We are currently hiring for one Full Time Comics position which requires a working knowledge of Comic Books.
Illusive Comics & Games, LLC is the premier Comic Book and Tabletop Game Store in the Silicon Valley, so we are looking for the best geeks that want to join our team! Illusive is a community focused store, where we want every Crew Member and customer to feel welcome. This is a very supportive and caring environment for Staff.
A Crew Member's average daily tasks include answering phone calls and online queries, helping educate customers about products, ringing up customers, restocking, checking in new inventory, dusting/cleaning, straightening, communicating with co-workers on Slack and customers on Discord, creating marketing materials, taking photos of new or featured products, and being sarcastic.
Please note: We are a very busy shop, and there is no downtime on shift to read comics, nor play games, unless that is part of your day's responsibilities.
Reliable transportation is required.
Required Experience:
• Have at least 1 year Retail or Sales Experience.
• Have a High School diploma or equivalent, and have completed at least one year of College or equivalent work experience
• Applicants should have a working knowledge of current comics. *This is not a position for folks who have not read comics in a while or at all*
Required skills positions:
• Applicants must feel comfortable working around groups and sometimes crowds of customers. This is not a Back Office position
• Be personable and conversational with customers, while also being productive with your work
• Be a self-starter, multi-tasking, and be very detail oriented
• Communicate well with fellow staff and Management
• Know how to use Apple computers, Slack/Discord and Google Drive
• General Tech proficiency
• Be able to lift and carry boxes up to 30 pounds of comics
• Excellent sense of humor. Sarcasm is a common language at Illusive
It would be helpful if you have:
• Knowledge and experience with many standard tabletop boardgames, such as Catan, Splendor, Sushi Go!, etc.
• Knowledge of Magic: the Gathering or other Trading Cards Game
Staff are expected to help foster and grow our environment that is openly welcoming and safe for Women, Neurodiverse, Minorities and LGBTQ+ folk.
Pay range starts at minimum wage, which is currently $17.75 per hour (and which increases automatically each year), to $21, depending upon experience. Benefits include 25% off MSRP for almost everything we sell, the option to read all the comics and play many games for free before/after shift, and an incredibly supportive work environment.
We are a very COVID-safe environment. All staff must be fully boosted and be comfortable wearing a mask during your shift.

Minimum wage in Santa Clara is presently $17.75 per hour. Salary range for this positions is $17.75-$20, DOE. Benefits include, but are not limited to, a 25% discount. We know many folks could find work elsewhere for more money, but opportunities to work in a high quality Comic Book or Game Shop are rare. Plus, we have an awesome crew and a very supportive atmosphere..
